The Whitby Public Library collects and preserves material about Whitby's unique history and its place within the former Whitby Township, Ontario County and current Region of Durham
The collection includes local and family histories, scrapbooks, biography files, city directories, maps and government publications.

 
The Archives’ collection is the source of our rich Whitby Historical Images database, and includes genealogies, telephone books, business and personal manuscripts, building histories, and photographs. It is home to special collections on topics such as May Irwin and the Whitby Dunlops.
